Strala Teacher Training Weekend 3

I was up early Saturday morning once again. I got into the city, grabbed some soft serve fruit from Chloe’s, walked around the Union Square farmers market for a while, got spicy thai wraps for lunch at Organic Avenue, and headed to Strala. This past weekend at training we learned and practiced Shiatsu with Sam Berlind. Shiatsu is a Japanese practice that translates to “finger pressure and benefits relaxation, stress relief, anxiety, etc. This included a lot of group exercises that helped us better understand how to use our own bodies and breath to assist others in ease and relaxation.

It was really interesting to see how you’re able to use your whole body as a tool to help others release tension in their bodies. Practicing on each other really gave us all confidence that we’re able to use this practice while leading yoga classes. It was great because after each exercise we did on each other, we then gave feedback which helped us improve and understand what we’re doing right and what we can improve on.

Sunday I got up and made my way to One Lucky Duck so that I could get something to eat for my drive home. After I did that I met up with some friends and grabbed lunch at Ellary’s Greens, and then we went to training. Training on Sunday was basically what happened on Saturday, only a little more extensive. We worked on various poses and how to assist each other while in those poses. After this past weekend of Shiatsu I feel as if I can read others bodies better than I could previously. I’ve found that it’s best to use your instinct and not second guess yourself while leading, or in any other aspect of life for that matter.

We didn’t do any yoga this past weekend, but I feel like I got to know people in the training better. Also, I just feel like I’ve learned more about leading and am gaining confidence in actually beginning to lead and feel comfortable with it. I can’t believe that it’s already been 3 weeks of training, it’s going by so fast!

This is a pretty short post but I feel like this weekend was pretty easy to sum up. Can’t wait to share the remainder of the journey with you all πŸ™‚

  1. Hi lovely!
Comin’ at you from Perth, Western Australia right now πŸ™‚ My name is Annette and I am absolutely loving reading about your experience doing the Strala yoga training. It is one of my dreams/goals to head to New York for 1-2 months and complete this training and practice at Strala every day, so it’s so inspiring to be able to read about someone (you!) that’s already doing the course.
Looking forward to finding out more about your journey. Enjoy it ❀

    • Hi there!
I’m so glad that you enjoy reading about my experience and hope that I can read about your Strala experience some day as well! It’s so worth the time, money, stress, sacrifices, etc. to be able to do the training. You’ll get there someday, keep working towards it πŸ™‚
I’m excited to share more as the time comes to do so.
Thank you for your lovely comment! It means a lot πŸ˜€
